The
supply chain: the new revenue generator?
A store in Manchester is out
of stock of your best selling products, your warehouse
in Germany doesn’t know where to store the
surplus pallets that were delivered during the
night and your stores in Asia have been waiting
for their delivery for more than 10 days. Does
this sound familiar? The solution to these common
issues exists. The solution is stock and replenishment
optimisation. However, be prepared to review your
entire supply chain!
Are traditional stock methods a thing of the
past? Perhaps. The reason is simple: having developed
customer loyalty policies, marketing and sales
programmes, speciality retailers are now turning
to a new source of optimisation; the supply chain. "Many
retailers have realised they can no longer separately
manage their stocks, buying and replenishment
activities on a store by store or warehouse by
warehouse”, explains Laurent Thoumine, senior
manager at consulting firm, Kurt Salmon Associates.
